my story on food and healing

Last September brought a beautiful change in my life.

I was tired, irritable, and downright depressed. I was experiencing numerous consecutive migraines, energy deficient days, and emotional ups and downs. This went on for months and then Caleb and I decided it was time to seek answers. After multiple doctor visits and leaving discouraged, I began looking for a different approach. I didn't want to mask my problems with a daily-for the rest of my life-prescription. I desired healing.

A friend referred me to a Naturopathic Doctor. At first, I was apprehensive. I had the stereotypical idea of a "holistic doctor".  But, after hearing my friend's testimony and doing a little research on my own, we decided to give it a try.

On the day of my appointment, I walked in there completely unfamiliar with my own body. I knew my symptoms but couldn't make sense of why I felt this way at 24 years young. The first thirty minutes was all it took for me to get some answers.  Test results confirmed my symptoms and that I wasn't crazy. (phew) She simply looked at me and said, "Let's get you feeling like you're twenty-four.". As tears ran down my cheek, I knew I was in the right place.

After many months of eating the right foods for my body, taking quality natural supplements (no fillers), and two rounds of detoxification, I can truly say, "I have never felt better".  No more migraines (hallelujah!), no more frequent mood swings, no more energy deficient days. I know my body better than ever and how to care for it.

I learned that my healing depends on the constant care I give my body. This isn't a one-time fix. It's a lifestyle change.  It's a conscious effort every day to eat the foods and take the supplements that keep my body functioning the way it was made to.  Sometimes I revert back to my old ways. But inevitably the symptoms return and I quickly get back on track.

It's been almost a year and my friends and family (especially the Mister) have witnessed a change in me.  Not that I was a grump before, but I'm most definitely happier now. And my body is, too.

This is my story. It's not meant to be offensive or raise controversy. Until now, I've refrained from sharing it publicly; but, the more I share with others, I've realized my story can help those who feel like I did and are seeking answers. So, I would love your feedback. And I'm happy to share more if you like.

  1. ...and what a great story!

  2. Thanks for sharing! Could you share your care provider's name?
